DHAKA: Pakistani batsmen gave pathetic performance to being dismissed for a mere 83 against their arch rivals India in their first match in the Asia Cup 2016 here at the Shere bangle national Stadium in the Wednesday night.
Sent into bat by India captian Mahindra Singh Dhoni, Pakistani batsmen could not resist against the opponents’ bowling and the whole team was bowled out in 17.3 overs.
However, they avoided the embarrassment of making a record of the lowest total in the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament as it went to the United Arab Emirates last night against Bangladesh.
Only two batsmen – Sarfraz Ahmed (25) and Khrram Manzoor (10)  - could get into the double figures.
Seamer Hardik Pandya was the most successful bowler for India, taking three wickets for just eight runs while slow left-arm bowler Ravindra Jadeja grabbed two for eleven.
Jasprit Bumrah and Ashish Nehra claimed one wicket each.
India made one change in their team as Ajinkya Rahane replaced Shikhar Dhawan who has a niggle.
Pakistan are playing their first match in the tournament whereas India had won their first match, the inaugural T20I of Asia Cup, against the hosts, Bangladesh on Wednesday.
