MARDAN: At least 10 people sustained injuries in a suicide attack at the Excise and Taxation office in Mardan, police said.
DPO Mardan Faisal Shehzad confirmed it was a suicide attack, saying that the bomber fired shots before blowing himself up.
Sources said the bomber managed to enter the building and blew himself up in the computer section. The injured also include a journalist and a police man.
The injured have been rushed to district headquarters hospital, where condition of three is said to be critical.
The police officer said 8-10kg explosives were used by the suicide bomber.
Police and security personnel have reached the area and cordoned off the site of the explosion near Mall Road.
Several government offices and a public car parking are situated close the Excise and Taxation office located in a densely populated area.
