ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that implementation of Urdu as official language was a constitutional obligation and all ministries, divisions and government institutions work for its early implementation.
While talking to Special Assistant to PM Irfan Siddique at the PM Secretariat on Friday, Nawaz said all federal and provincial institutions and departments should work on the 10 points earlier delineated by the Supreme Court for enforcing Urdu and a compliance report should be presented to him in this regard.
The premier said that arrangements should also be put in place for publication of books on national history and renowned personalities so that the young generation could know about its history and culture.
He also directed his adviser to form a committee for resolving the problems being faced by poets, writers, artists and academics as they were the actual heroes of the nation and it was government’s responsibility to take care of their welfare and to encourage them.
Siddiqui apprised the prime minister of the performance of departments working under his division and the future projects for promoting culture and heritage and literature.
The prime minister noted that country’s educational and literary institutions were becoming active once again.
