While Shah Rukh Khan swings between multiple upcoming projects like Raees, a Gauri Shinde film and a few others, Aamir Khan has also figured out his next movie after Dangal.
The 50-year-old star, who has been very vocal on the recent Udta Punjab controversy and had asked audiences to simply watch the drug-fueled film in theatres only will, according to reports, essay an astronaut in his next venture. Aamir wants to play Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to go to space (in 1984).
A source was quoted saying on the subject: “Aamir will play Rakesh Sharma in his next film. He is all set to move from playing a pehalwan to now going out to the space.”
Of course before any of that happens, Aamir will hit cinema screens in a few months from now as Mahavir Singh Phogat, in Dangal.
Hollywood has seen a fair bit of fanfare for astronauts; Matthew McConaughey’s performance in Chris Nolan’s Interstellar and Matt Damon’s The Martian with Ridley Scott - both earned critical acclaim and big numbers  on the global box office. The market, it seems, is ripe for space travel stories.
