LAHORE: The provincial assembly of Punjab on Thursday passed six bills including Marriage Function Bill presented by Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.
According to the Marriage Function Bill, no one would be allowed to decorate any street road, public park or any other place except the building where marriage function will be held.
Any kind of fireworks display of arms and firing would also be banned under the bill while exhibition of dowry will be prohibited.
The bill states that function organizers and marriage hall owners would be bound to conclude the ceremony up to 10:00 pm and only one dish would be allowed in halls, houses.
The violation of the bill would be punishable offence in shape of imprisonment up to one month and fine between Rs 50,000 and Rs 2 million.
The other bills included the Punjab Forest Amendment Bill 2016, Punjab Flood Plan Regulation 2015, Punjab Economic Research Institute 2016, Punjab Commission for Women Status amendment bill 2015, and Formation of Vigilance Committees Bill were also passed in the PA session, chaired by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal.
