ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to observe a ceasefire along the Torkham Border, the diplomatic sources disclosed on Wednesday.
According to the these sources Afghan Ambassador have called the Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz and asked to help solve the dispute through diplomatic means.
The Aghan Ambassador has returned from Afghanistan a day before after attending national security meeting in Kabul.
“Both the countries have come to this conclusion that Torkham dispute should be resolved through diplomatic efforts,” the sources said.
It is also learnt that the Afghan Ambassador have also had a meeting with high level Army officers at GHQ after talking to Sartaj Aziz on telephone.
Pakistan and Afghan forces exchanged fire late Sunday over construction on the Pakistani side of the border.
The United States has also called on Afghanistan and Pakistan to peacefully resolve their tension as the clash on Torkham border entered its fourth day.
